North East Business Tycoon Giving Back To Businesses
Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunil Khanna lived in Jesmond and went to a local school. Sunil went on to Sunderland University to study for a degree in pharmacy. He graduated in 1981 with a B.Sc. (Hon) in pharmacy. After successfully completing his Pre-Registration training with Boots, Sunil then became a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 1982. After fully qualifying as a pharmacist he then went to work for an independent pharmacy in South Shields for a short period of time before deciding to open up his own pharmacy Medicentre chemists in Jesmond in 1983.
This inspirational North East business tycoon didn’t stop there. From offering pharmacy services in Newcastle to selling discounted fragrances, Sunil Khanna is also the director and a shareholder of Jesmond Lets. When it comes to giving back to businesses and customers Sunil has also brought in two new exciting services, “Summary Care Records” (SCR) and “Think Pharmacy First”. This dedicated businessman is also the founder of the Asian Business Forum to help promote better business and customer interaction.
The Asian Business Forum
The Asian Business Forum (North East) was established at the end of March 2004. The Forum’s aim is to provide a platform for Asian businesses to voice their views on issues which affect their development at local and international government level. Mr Khanna is passionate about encouraging the Asian business community in the North East to play a more active part in promoting the importance and diversity of businesses.
As the President and former Chairman, Sunil Khanna welcomes contributions and investment in helping to take this innovative organisation forward. Although Sunil stepped down in 2009 as Chairman, he is still on the Asian Business Forum Committee.
As a gateway for businesses and supporting organisations in the region, the Asian Business Forum is also used to interact with the Asian community. This platform provides many benefits such as arranging numerous business and social events throughout the year.
