Nesta snaps up one of London’s ‘most sustainable’ buildings following redevelopment
Innovation charity Nesta has bought up a highly sustainable, speculative office development on the River Thames after redevelopment of the building was completed.
The VIEW 58 development project, which has been masterminded by the FORE Partnership, includes 48,000 sq ft of Grade-A office and includes UK-first sustainable technology, such as solar photovoltaic panels that can generate power from both the top and underside of panels.
The building at 58 Victoria Embankment, which also features a fully-glazed atrium, balconies and lifts, was developed as a joint venture with Kier Property and architects tp bennett who led on the design.
FORE claim that the building is one of the most sustainable properties to be completed in the capital this year.
Basil Demeroutis, Managing Partner of FORE, said that the pan-European real estate investment firm was looking to bring ‘sustainability mainstream’ with developments such as View 58, which itself achieved an ‘Excellent’ sustainability rating from BREEAM.
He commented: “We are delighted to have completed VIEW 58. It has been a hugely-successful development for us and endorsed our ‘responsible real estate’ philosophy, which focuses on low carbon strategies, social impact, placemaking and design, which we believe enhances rental income and improves returns.”
The completion of the pre-agreed sale to Nesta means the charity has now begun fitting out office space at the building ahead of a move later this year.
