Restaurant group behind Fazenda chooses Chester for all-new dining brand
Restaurant company City District Group is looking to Chester for the launch of the first venue in its new dining brand, Picanha.
City District, the company behind Brazilian chain Fazenda, will establish the first ever Picanha at a 6,000 sq ft site on Newgate Street
Following the trend set by Fazenda, Picanha will offer diners the South American ‘Rodízio’ style of all-you-can-eat cuisine.
However, City District has said that Picanha will feature a smaller, less expensive menu and target couples, groups and families seeking a stylish but informal dining-out experience.
The Newgate Street premises, formerly home to Zizzi’s, will have 130 covers and a bar for up to 30 people.
The founder-director of City District Group, Brazilian-Argentinian Tomas Maunier, said: “Chester is an exciting place for eating out right now and we are glad to be joining the party. Our new investment, Picanha in Chester, is inspired by the prime lean cut of meat in Brazil.
“Brazilians pay tribute to this special cut, as it represents quality and great taste. with an outer layer of fat bringing juiciness and flavour.”
He continued: “The picanha is just one cut of ten on offer, but it represents the real essence of who we are and where we come from, being Brazilian, unique and high quality.
“Our success with Fazenda shows us that South American flavours and atmosphere are really loved by a wide range of people in the UK, and we plan to roll out more Picanhas after Chester.”
Picanha Chester will open next month.
