£3.5m Farnborough family pub creates 60 new jobs
Marston’s, a leading UK pub operator has acquired a former office block site on the outskirts of Farnborough, with approved plans to create a new family pub for the local area.
The £3.5million development, just off Southwood Business Park will begin construction at the end of 2016 and will be part of Marston’s on going new build scheme by Marston’s Inns and Taverns.
The pub will create approximately 50 to 60 new jobs, with up to 10 full-time positions for the area and will cater for up to 150 diners. The design plans shows the pub is to include a terrace and garden dining area, a children’s interactive play area and also a large customer car park, including 4 cycle bays.
On application for the site, Marston’s appointed the NLP Thames Valley Office of national planning and economics consultancy Nathaniel Lichfield & partners (NLP) helping to secure approval from Rushmoor Borough Council.
Daniel Lampard, Senior Director and Head of the Thames Valley office, said: “The scheme is a food-led family pub restaurant which aims to create a comfortable and relaxing pub setting, perfect for serving a whole range of diners from the local area, business users and passing visitors.”
“The proposed development from Marston’s will result in the use of a vacant site in a sustainable location.
“It will have a positive economic effect locally and provide a new leisure service, enhancing amenities for local residents, passers-by and visitors.”
John McElholm, Acquisitions Manager for Marston’s Inns and Taverns added: “We are really looking forward to being able to build and open a pub in Farnborough. We hope it will become a firm favourite for the local residents and will offer the community a great place to visit and enjoy with family and friends.”
