HURST staff dig in to help Seashell Trust

Staff at accountants and business advisers HURST built a 20ft high teepee and cleared eyesores during an away day at the home of the firm’s charity of the year, Seashell Trust.

Tasks carried out by the team of 38 included demolishing a derelict shed, removing rubble and weeds from the Cheadle Hulme charity’s grounds, and gardening.

They also erected the teepee, which is used by students at Seashell Trust’s Forest School, a haven where they can experience nature and relax.

Seashell Trust provides education, sports and leisure activities and residential care for children and young people aged 2-23 who have profound physical and learning disabilities, deafness, blindness and autism.

HURST partner and director of practice development Simon Brownbill said: “We have been holding away days for the last seven years and our staff tell us they welcome the opportunity to get out of the office and put something back into the community.

“We last worked with the Seashell Trust in 2011 and it’s great to see how much the site has developed in that time.”

Wendy Bray, Seashell Trust’s corporate and individual giving fundraiser, said: “We were thrilled with how much the HURST team got through. They embraced our jobs with a huge amount of energy and hard work and really made a difference. We greatly appreciate their efforts.

“The teepee was especially impressive – it is used every day and is a fantastic resource.”

The money being raised by HURST for Seashell Trust this year will buy new specialist gym equipment.
