Actavo's health and safety record receives presidential nod

Actavo | Structural Division and Actavo | Industrial Solutions have been recognised for their continual commitment to occupational health and safety with the achievement of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Award.

Following 12 consecutive RoSPA Gold awards, Actavo’s new Presidential standard is a reflection of the company’s impeccable occupational health and safety performance over the past twelve years.

The award scheme assesses a company’s accident records as well as health and safety management systems. It includes important factors such as strong leadership and workforce involvement, as CEO of Actavo | Structural Division, Roger Hastie, explains: “Keeping our team and the public safe will always be our top priority. It gets harder year on year to maintain our record and we’re constantly vigilant in preventing complacency.

“As part of our commitment to deliver world-class services, all our team members receive meticulous health and safety training – both theoretical and practical. Our entire company is focused on zero harm.”

The RoSPA award scheme is one of the largest and longest-running programmes of its kind. Recognising an organisation’s commitment to preventing accidents and ill-health at work, companies are awarded for having stringent health and safety management systems, best practice, leadership and workplace involvement across the UK and overseas.

Chris Foulkes, CEO of Actavo | Industrial Solutions, says: “Health and safety is paramount in every sector we serve, especially when you consider the risks involved in working on behalf of clients in the petrochemical, nuclear and marine industries.

“The receipt of RoSPA’s President’s award, demonstrates Actavo’s continued commitment to sustaining the highest possible levels of safety at all times.”

Celebrating a diamond anniversary, the RoSPA awards continue to present highly-regarded and sought-after accolades to businesses and organisations which have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.

“To ensure the welfare of everyone at Actavo, as well as our clients’ and contractors’ teams, Actavo instils stringent working practices into the core of its business. Our integrated SHEQ (safety, health, environment and quality) management system means everyone works to the same standards in terms of safety at work,” says Actavo’s SHEQ director, Neill Moffat.

“Receiving our 12th RoSPA award for our commitment to occupational health safety means our policy for zero harm embodies the top standard of health and safety working practices.

“Our RoSPA President’s award belongs to the team for their unwavering commitment to working safely despite relentless challenges,” Moffat added.

Actavo received the President’s Award at RoSPA’s 60th annual ceremony held at Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on July 14, 2016.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.

“This year was doubly special for our winners as their achievements were recognised as the RoSPA awards celebrated its diamond anniversary, which is a ringing endorsement of the thousands of businesses and organisations that have committed to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention.”
