Taylor&Emmet expands first class family team

Taylor&Emmet LLP is further developing its highest ranked department, according to The Legal 500’s recent results, with the appointment of another specialist childcare solicitor.

Emilie Garthwaite joins the Sheffield firm’s family team to handle both public and private matters in relation to children.

Having worked previously at Sills and Betteridge in Lincoln, Emilie will be providing advice to local clients on a range of issues, from care proceedings and residence orders, to dealing with social services and parental responsibility agreements.

Emilie said: “I am excited to become a member of Taylor&Emmet’s highly regarded family law team and to have access to the top quality work it attracts. It is a very busy department, but by building a rapport with colleagues and clients alike, I am already finding my feet and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”

This year, Taylor&Emmet was promoted by The Legal 500 to its top tier for family law work, one of just two Sheffield firms in this category. The experts were praised for being an “always polite and very professional” group, which includes the “thorough” Lucy Rodgers, who is a Resolution accredited specialist and manages all issues relating to legal aid contracts.

Michaela Heathcote, head of Taylor&Emmet’s family law team, also received personal recommendation from the industry guide. She added: “We are pleased to welcome Emilie to our respected childcare division. She is a promising young solicitor who I have no doubt will be a real asset to the firm. We have received our best ever results in The Legal 500 this year and by strengthening our numbers, we aim to build on this momentum to further extend our reputation and reach.”
