This week’s Yorkshire appointments

KPMG has appointed Nick Pheasey as head of private client advisory in the North.

Nick succeeds Dermot Callinan who currently leads KPMG’s private client practice in the North and nationally. Dermot will be retiring from the partnership on 30 September 2017 after 26 years with the firm.

Nick has been a partner at KPMG since 2013 and has over 19 years of tax experience, specialising in advising individuals, family offices, entrepreneurs and shareholders on their personal tax issues.

Nick spent the first 16 years of his career in Leeds and has continued to work with clients across the north. Nick will be spending more time back in Yorkshire in his new role, alongside, Jonathan Turner, private client director, who is an established figure in the region, having spent 13 years with KPMG in Leeds.

Steve Mawdsley, NatWest

NatWest has appointed Steve Mawdsley as the new regional director of Corporate Coverage for the Yorkshire region.

In his role Steve will be leading a team of nine relationship directors providing support and bespoke funding solutions to a variety of mid and large corporate companies across the region.

Steve has been working for NatWest and its sister bank the Royal Bank of Scotland since 2004.

He most recently served as head of mid corporates for the bank in Manchester, supporting customers across the region and developing close ties with the North West business and professional communities in addition to being involved in the bank’s local community and fundraising initiatives.

Steve has also spent time as head of business development and as a large corporate relationship director.

Steve said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the team in Yorkshire. We have a fantastic client base and I am very much looking forward to supporting our customers in achieving their goals.

“In the short time I’ve worked in Leeds and Yorkshire I can tell it’s a dynamic place to be doing business, and I look forward to broadening my relationships with the people and businesses across the county.”

Nicola Hunter, Ward Hadaway

Law firm Ward Hadaway has appointed solicitor Nicola Hunter to its family law team in Leeds.

Nicola has 19 years’ specialist experience advising and representing clients on all aspects of family law.

Her expertise covers areas including separation, divorce, civil partnerships, financial remedy proceedings, private law children act proceedings, family law act proceedings, pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation contracts and unmarried partners’ property rights.

Nicola is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in complex financial and property matters and domestic violence and a member of Resolution (formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association).

She has particular expertise assisting in matrimonial cases involving high net worth individuals.

Speaking about her appointment, Nicola said: “I am delighted to be joining Ward Hadaway at such an exciting time for the firm with the expansion to the new offices.

“The investment in Yorkshire and the firm’s commitment to growing its practice here is clear for all to see.

“It is also terrific to be linking up again with Andrea. We have worked well together as a team in the past and I feel sure we can do the same again here.”

Mark Smith, Doncaster Chamber

Doncaster Chamber has appointed a new business growth manager to provide maternity cover.

Mark Smith has taken up the role following his most recent work as director of operations for a regional charity that supports children at risk.

He will oversee the Chamber’s international trade functions, Logistics Hub UK, training brokerage platform, Chamber services as well as looking after member businesses.

Mark said: “I’m delighted to be joining Doncaster Chamber for a year and am looking forward to meeting many more of the members and businesses in Doncaster to hear about their priorities, hopes and aspirations and to offer them mine and the Chamber’s support to achieve them.

“The Chamber offers a lot of great services and we want to ensure members utilise the ones that are right for them and to make Doncaster an even better and stronger place to live and work.”

Mark has a history of working closely with the Chambers of Commerce at a regional and national level both in his previous role and with the Junior Chamber International (JCI).

Steve Munro, CRS Group

CRS Group, the Sheffield-based finance and debt recovery specialist, has appointed Steve Munro as its new national business development manager.

Steve’s role will be to drive finance and debt solutions opportunities from both his financial professional network and the SME market nationally.

Whilst Steve will be based at CRS Group’s head office in Sheffield, his appointment coincides with CRS’s plans to open a new office in London which is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

Jacqui Foley, Newtons Solicitors

Residential conveyancer, Jacqui Foley, has joined the property team at Thorp Parker Newtons solicitors, Stokesley.

Jacqui Foley, who joins Thorp Parker Newtons as a residential conveyancing executive, has 34 years residential conveyancing experience. She previously worked at Tilley, Bailey and Irvine LLP.

Thorp Parker Newtons provides a full range of legal services to commercial and private clients throughout Tees Valley and North Yorkshire.

Founded in 2009, Newtons Solicitors is headquartered in Knaresborough and has seen fee income rise by £1m annually for the last three years.

The company now employs more than 100 people in 10 offices across Yorkshire and the North East.

Diva Telecom

Diva Telecom has announced a series of new appointments as part of an overall recruitment plan to support the roll-out of Gigabit Leeds in partnership with infrastructure provider, CityFibre.

Gigabit Leeds is a new gigabit speed internet connectivity that is now available to businesses across the city.

The Diva Telecom sales team has seen the addition of David Brookmyre as internal account manager having previously worked at BT for seven years.

Alex Lawler joins as marketing manager, bringing with her over 12 years of marketing experience with Leeds City Council, Brother, Federal-Mogul and most recently Alex worked for a business telecommunications company for 2 years.

Having completed his apprenticeship in early September, Daniel Dudley has taken on a permanent role as digital marketing executive, working alongside Alex.

Diva has also created a business administration role, which has been taken on by apprentice, Jess Hoyle.

Diva Telecom also announced that Lyndsey Smith has been promoted to operations manager, in recognition of her achievements over the last six months as service and operations team leader.

David Bantock, John Holland

Expansion by a Sheffield-based prestige car dealer has led to the appointment of a new sales manager.

John Holland, established more than 40 years ago, has appointed David Bantock to specialise in sales and finance at the business.

David has worked for dealerships across the country in a career spanning more than 30 years.

He said: “I have spent time working in aftersales, service departments and sales departments, as well as taking up various roles such as business manager, sales manager and centre principle.

“It is great to be joining one of the best-known independent dealerships, which has a customer-focussed way of working and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
