TraffordCity’s Venus achieves wired certified gold rating

Peel Land and Property’s iconic Venus building in Manchester’s TraffordCity has been officially recognised as one of the best office developments in the country for its broadband and telecom infrastructure after achieving the prestigious Wired Certified Gold rating.

Venus, situated opposite intu Trafford Centre, achieved this prestigious Wired Certified rating through the international digital connectivity rating scheme run by WiredScore which was recently launched in Manchester, following its success in London, to recognise and encourage best practice in technological infrastructure across the city’s commercial developments.

The Wired Certification provides developers and landlords with a trusted mark, to help them understand what necessary investments are needed to achieve and enable them to demonstrate, best-in-class connectivity infrastructure.

This independent benchmark also provides greater transparency for occupiers to help them make an informed decision before signing a lease.

The eight-storey, 91,000 sq ft building, opposite intu Trafford Centre opened in March 2004 and is home to Travel Counsellors, Spie, Reckitts Benckiser and Capita. It was awarded a Wired Certified Gold rating for providing three unique sources of fibre as well as a fixed wireless provider ensuring high speed and reliable internet access for its occupiers. In addition to this, the building has two diverse communication intakes on the north and south sides of the building. There is also the capacity to accommodate additional service providers.

Paul Chappels, Senior Asset Manager for Peel Land and Property said: “Our tenants need and expect fast, reliable and affordable internet connections and our Wired Certified Gold achievement is recognition that we can deliver that to the successful companies based at Venus.

“As one of the first buildings to be Wired Certified in Manchester, as a developer we’ve pioneered technological infrastructure and connectivity in Venus which we will continue to replicate in future commercial developments in the city and beyond.”

William Newton, EMEA Director, WiredScore, said: “Peel have demonstrated themselves to be digital leaders in Manchester’s property community and have been an important partner as we’ve expanded in this Northern Powerhouse. The important investment in the Venus building’s connectivity infrastructure has provided a beacon of good practice to landlords in this digital and tech hub.

“Peel are not only making investments which prioritise the digital needs of their occupiers today, but are key players in future-proofing Manchester’s property for the technology needs of the modern business.”
