Brayford Hotels secures deal to see DoubleTree By Hilton open in Hull
Brayford Hotels, the specialist hospitality developer, has struck a deal with Hilton Worldwide to bring its DoubleTree by Hilton brand to Hull.
Brayford Hotels took over the Ferensway development from Lexington Avenue Leisure last month and building work is currently underway.
Expected to open in late 2017, the new hotel will incorporate a range of premium leisure and business facilities, including 165 upscale guestrooms, a branded destination restaurant and bar and a 1,000 sqm pillar-free ballroom designed to attract large-scale conferences and events to the city.
Once operational, the hotel will join more than 465 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in 40 countries and territories across the globe.
Leigh Hall, director of Brayford Hotels, said: “We are very pleased to be able to say that the agreement with Hilton Worldwide has been signed and that Hull will have a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel before the end of next year.
“Obviously, there has been a lot of speculation and talk about the new hotel being a DoubleTree by Hilton but contracts were only signed last week and as people know, nothing is guaranteed until the ink is dry.
“It is fantastic news for Hull. The new hotel will extend the city’s accommodation offer and provide local businesses and organisations with a new venue for events. We have a successful track record of working with Hilton Worldwide, and the hotel on Ferensway will be the second DoubleTree by Hilton in our portfolio. We think it will be very popular indeed.”
Established in 2008, Brayford Hotels Ltd owns two hotels: The DoubleTree by Hilton in Lincoln and Holiday Inn Express in Grimsby.
As with its other hotels, the new DoubleTree by Hilton in Hull will be managed by leaf HOSPITALITY.
Richard Farrar, founder of leaf HOSPITALITY added: “We are delighted to be working with the Brayford team again who I know will deliver a first class hotel for Hull.
“There’s a real buzz about Hull and a shortage of premium hotels in the city centre but the market is robust and continuing to develop.
“Now more than ever, the spotlight is on the city to accommodate a rise in business visits and a steady growth in leisure tourism anticipated as a result of Hull’s City of Culture status next year and we’re confident of its long term sustainability as a vibrant leisure and business destination.”
