Stacey’s Bakery goes green for Halloween in aid of NSPCC

A bakery hopes to raise £1,000 for the NSPCC this Halloween, by changing the colour of it’s icing from traditional white to ghoulish green as part of the charity’s “Go Green” campaign.

Stacey’s – which has a bakery on South Street and a shop on Bath Street in Ilkeston, as well as shops in Eastwood and Heanor – will be selling the green goodies over a five day period, from Thursday 27th October to Monday 31st October, in order to raise as much money as possible for the campaign.

All proceeds made by the specially decorated cakes will be donated to the NSPCC for the second year running, after the bakery raised £300 in just one day by selling the green treats last year.

David Stacey, director of the company, said: “Last year we made green cakes for the NSPCC, but we did not tie this in with a special date. We really wanted to get involved again this year, and thought that it would be a great fit to tie this in with Halloween.

“With the recent addition of our Heanor shop, we now have more bakeries than last year, so we are aiming to raise £1,000 for the NSPCC as it is such a great cause”.

The campaign, organised by the NSPCC, was launched to raise money and fight for every childhood.

NSPCC community fundraising manager Claire Campbell said: “We are delighted that Stacey’s has decided to get involved with the NSPCC’s Go Green for Halloween campaign.

“The nation evidently loves all things ‘bake’ related so whether it’s creepy cakes or spooky sponges, whatever support staff and customers can do to help keep up the vital work we do for local children is hugely appreciated”.
