Children bury time capsule at local housing development
Twenty-five children from local school, Hoylandswaine Primary, visited David Wilson Homes’ St John’s Walk development in Hoylandswaine on Friday to bury a time capsule filled with their most recent history project.
The children have spent the last few weeks drawing pictures and collecting photographs of the local area to help them in their project, which filled the time capsule before they helped to bury it with the St John’s Walk’s site manager, James Swann.
Gavin McCarthy, Sales Manager at St John’s Walk, commented:
“It was great to have the children from Hoylandswaine Primary School visiting our development and burying pieces of history for future generations to find! A key focus for David Wilson Homes is to nurture the communities in which we build our developments. Hoylandswaine is a fantastic area with a wealth of local history where we want to encourage our residents and the wider community to contribute to the continuing story of the area.”
Damien Bond, Year Three teacher at Hoylandswaine Primary School, said:
“The children have loved collecting items, photographs and news stories about the local area over the last few weeks, and were very excited to think that work that they’ve done could be found in the future!”
St John’s Walk is a beautiful countryside development situated in the rural village of Hoylandswaine, Barnsley, offering four and five bedroom homes starting from £379,995.
