Barclays funding fuels Stoneygate Lodge acquisition

Stoneygate Lodge has new owners as husband and wife team Steve and Karen Nelson complete the purchase with support from Barclays.

Based at Burdon Lane, Sunderland, Stoneygate Lodge has been in existence since 2001 and provides accommodation for 40 dogs and 36 cats together with stabling for 21 horses and also holiday accommodation.

The purchase is a dream come true for Karen Nelson who has always wanted to own her own kennels.

Husband Steve, who previously ran a local taxi business, is also looking forward to the new challenge and they have plans to update the facilities and expand the services they provide.

Karen Nelson, Partner, Stoneygate Lodge, said: “It’s been a long held ambition to own our own kennels and we’re delighted to be the new proud owners of Stoneygate Lodge.

“We can provide accommodation for dogs, cats and horses and we’re planning to upgrade the cattery to provide state of the art facilities for our customers.

“We will also be upgrading the kennels and it’s so exciting to be planning our future and knowing that we can provide the best accommodation for our customer’s pets.”
