Pozzoni Architecture employee becomes Team GB athlete

An employee of Pozzoni Architecture has qualified to represent Team GB in duathlon and triathlon events next year.

Charlotte Edmondson, a bid manager with the Altrincham-headquartered firm, will join Team GB in Spain for the ETU Sprint Distance Duathlon European Championships in Soria next April.

She will then travel to Germany in June for the ETU Sprint Distance Triathlon European Championships in Dusseldorf.

Duathlons comprise running and cycling stages, while triathlons have an open water swimming segment.

Charlotte first landed her place in Team GB after qualifying in the 25 to 29 age group at the Nottingham Sprint Triathlon earlier this year. She then made it into the duathlon team following success last month at the Oulton Park Sprint Duathlon.

She commented: “I have been competing in triathlons for two years now but the duathlon I took part in during October was my first one so I was really excited to have made won a Team GB spot from that race.

“I train six days a week but I will definitely be trying even harder now that I’m working towards representing Great Britain next year.”

Pozzoni director Nigel Saunders said: “Our leisure team have designed training facilities that have been used by Olympic medal winning athletes so it seems fitting that we now have a Team GB athlete in our office.

“We are all really proud of Charlotte and her achievement and we will be cheering her on next year when she takes part in the races.”
