No sweat for Total Fitness with ANS

Northern health club chain Total Fitness has partnered with ANS Group to transform its membership systems through the cloud service provider’s flexible hyper converged solution, RAPID.

The project involved the development and deployment of a pre-validated, pre-integrated and pre-tested private cloud solution, enabling Total Fitness to move away from its aging and fragmented infrastructure to a faster and more streamlined, integrated system. This will also act as a foundation to facilitate the creation of new applications and allow the company to expand its IT capabilities in the near future.

The new RAPID solution has improved latency speeds, ensuring staff can navigate the corporate system and access data faster than ever before. The upgraded membership database also directly benefits the health club’s 95,000 members, by optimising the ID and verification process on arrival across all 17 sites .

David Atkinson, head of technology at Total Fitness, said: “Getting the project completed quickly was very important – and that’s where ANS really delivered.

“The quick implementation of RAPID caused minimal disruption for our members and staff alike and provided us with a reliable and fast platform to support the business. We’re now able to build and roll out applications whenever we need to and adjust the price model accordingly. It has also given us much-needed capacity to expand.”

Andy Barrow, CTO at ANS said: “Total Fitness is a successful Northern brand, but its previous IT system required upgrades in order to support future growth. The new RAPID infrastructure can be adjusted according to the needs of the business and can grow and adapt with the company.

“Total Fitness is in the midst of a complete overhaul of its IT infrastructure. Projects like this often take months, but by opting for our pre-built hyper converged system, based on industry leading technology, means it was able to create a robust, flexible and operationally efficient system in a significantly shorter timeframe.”
