Together goes barking mad for St Ann’s Hospice

Colleagues at specialist lender Together continued their support of St Ann’s Hospice by gathering colleagues and their dogs to participate in the charity’s annual sponsored dog walk, followed by a fundraising dog show.

The hospice, which provides care and support to those affected by life limiting illnesses in Greater Manchester, organised a three-kilometre Halloween-themed dog walk at Wythenshawe Park, with almost 70 colleagues and guests of Together, plus their 38 dogs, joining local people to take part.

Jo Burton, corporate fundraiser at St Ann’s Hospice, added: “We’re extremely grateful for Together’s ongoing support. The dog walk was great fun and we’re so pleased that Together participated in such great numbers. Fundraising support is essential for us to be able to deliver our service to the community and it’s fantastic to see local businesses getting so involved.”

To raise additional funds, Together invited colleagues and guests back to their Cheadle-based office for a ‘spooky pooch pageant’. Guests enjoyed complimentary food and drink, whilst dogs were entered into a dog show, with prizes including a two-night break at a charming dog-friendly hotel in the Lake District. Categories for the dog show included cutest dog, best costume and best trick.

Helga Wright, commercial finance director at Together, who was one of the judges at Together’s competition, said: “We’re big supporters of St Ann’s Hospice here at Together and, with plenty of dog owners within the company, this was a fantastic event for our colleagues to get involved in. The charity does wonderful work and we’re really pleased to be able to support such a great cause.”

Together places a strong focus on giving back to the community and regularly fundraises for local charities. Earlier this year, the business raised almost £16,000 for St Ann’s Hospice when a group of colleagues undertook the National Three Peaks Challenge.
