Company wins award in food 'Oscars'
A company which makes chilled food for most of the UK’s biggest supermarkets has won a prestigious national award.
SK Chilled Foods won the ‘judges’ star performer’ category in the Food Manufacturing Magazine Excellence Awards 2016.
Held in London last week, the awards are widely recognised as the most prestigious in the food manufacturing industry and are aimed at companies who make everything from chilled food through to fresh produce and beverages.
The judges star performer award was a special award chosen from all companies short-listed in the different categories and given to the organisation involved in an activity which deserved particular recognition.
The award was given to SK Chilled Foods for the way in which it ensures its suppliers maintain the highest safety and quality standards.
One judge remarked: “SK Foods has worked tirelessly with a big supermarket partner and have become a key supplier of oriental snack foods. That achievement has been made possible partly by its single-minded focus on the integrity of its supply chain.”
SK Chilled Foods’ Managing Director, Jeremy Faulkner, said: “It’s great to have been recognised, through being short-listed and going on to win in these prestigious industry awards, as one of the premier manufacturers of innovative chilled snacks in the UK.
“We make chilled food for most of the UK’s biggest supermarket chains and due to the intricacies of the ranges we provide, it means we deal with a lot of suppliers when it comes to buying different ingredients needed for our dishes.
“It is therefore vital that we maintain excellent relationships with our supply chain and ensure they adhere to the very highest food safety and quality standards.
“I would like to thank our suppliers, as well as the team at SK who have made this possible.”
