Harrogate digital health company launches NHS health monitoring app

Digital health company Inhealthcare has launched a new app which helps those with long-term health conditions monitor and manage their health.

The My Inhealthcare mobile app allows NHS patients suffering from conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity to send health readings to their doctor or nurse as well as receive dosing instructions.

The service is currently rolling out for patients registered on NHS services serviced by Inhealthcare in Berkshire, Durham, Lancashire, Norfolk, Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight.

Bryn Sage, Chief Executive of Inhealthcare, commented: “My Inhealthcare is a powerful tool which helps people with long-term conditions to lead more independent lives.

“Instead of attending regular appointments at hospital or clinic just to provide basic indicators and receive simple information, patients can now harness the power of technology to do this remotely using their smartphones.”

The Inhealthcare app can also be used to set reminders to take medication and health readings, and boasts a diary feature allowing patients to monitor and keep track of their condition including blood glucose levels, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels and weight.

All the information transmitted over the app is automatically fed into an individual’s health records through the Yorkshire firm’s digital platform, with updates provided to clinicians if readings exceed set parameters.

Sage adds that the app has the potential to dramatically cut down on the number of routine appointments that are currently choking NHS services, and empower patients to manage their own health better.

He said: “We believe that empowering people to take more control over their own health can have a transformative effect on their wellbeing.

“If adopted widely, My Inhealthcare could also have a transformative effect on the NHS by vastly reducing the number of routine or mundane appointments.”
