Lancashire Sports Awards Set to Be Biggest Yet

The dedication and commitment of the county’s sporting and community heroes will be recognised at a prestigious ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool on Friday 25 November 2016.

Eighty three finalists from across Lancashire will battle it out across nine categories, including Community Club of the Year, School of the Year (Primary and Secondary) and Service to Disability Sport.

The awards, now in their 15th year, are hosted by Lancashire Sport Partnership (LSP), an organisation which works to improve health and wellbeing across the county by encouraging active lifestyles.

Adrian Leather, chief executive of Lancashire Sport Partnership (LSP), said: “These awards exist to recognise and reward the individuals, clubs and organisations which work tirelessly to ensure that people can both get involved and participate in sport.

“This year’s sporting calendar has been pretty packed with the Euros, Rugby Championship, Wimbledon and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which has culminated in a lot of interest in sport and our partners have reported increased enquiries and participation.

“As a supporter of any initiative or event that inspires people to be more active, this is fantastic news and we’re looking forward to recognising and rewarding the very people and clubs at the backbone of the county’s sports scene at this year’s Lancashire Sports Awards.”

The committee has secured a number of event sponsors, including Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), the University of Cumbria and Places for People.

Just four sponsorship opportunities remain for the event. To find out more, contact Gareth Nixon at LSP on 01772 299837 or gnixon@lancashiresport.org.uk.
