Thomas Cook Airlines launches Tobago route at Manchester Airport

Thomas Cook Airlines has expanded at Manchester Airport with the launch of a new long-haul service.

The carrier’s inaugural Tobago flight took off yesterday (November 13) and saw customers at greeted at check-in with a steel band and carnival dancers, followed by music, food and cocktails at departure.

The route reinforces Thomas Cook Airlines’ 17-route long-haul portfolio, which already makes it the largest carrier to the US from the North West.

Seven of Thomas Cook’s retail agents departed on the flight to discover more about what the islands can offer UK holidaymakers.

Henry Sunley, the airline’s director of sales and planning, commented: “This is such an amazing day for our customers who want some luxurious winter sun.

“Tobago’s a great destination and with our £100m upgraded cabins, pre-order duty free service Airshoppen, and James Martin’s fantastic menu, our customers can travel in real style.”

He continued: “Furthermore, our sister airline Condor, also started a new route from Munich to Tobago and Barbados this weekend.

“This new route perfectly complements the Thomas Cook Group Airlines routes from Frankfurt and Manchester.”

Manchester Airport’s commercial director, Stephen Turner, is confident the Tobago route will be “hugely popular” with the 22m people living within the airport’s catchment area.

He said: “It’s great to see Thomas Cook Airlines starting another long haul route from Manchester.

“Tobago is a beautiful island and the ideal destination for those looking for some winter sun.”
