Zombie Technology comes to the North East

North East based Battlezone Laser is leading the way in the technology behind the craze for zombie themes in live gaming.

Although the venue is already hugely popular for Birthday Parties, Team Building and ‘a good day out’, Battlezone Laser’s Operations Manager, Susan Fenwick was keen to ensure the experience also appealed to hard-core ‘gamers’ and people looking for an extra thrill.

She said ‘although we don’t guarantee players will be ‘alone’ during their time in our arena, we have largely steered away from hiring actors as this tends to increase the costs so much that most people can’t afford to play. Instead, we have invested in the technology that powers the guns and the special effects that support the complex gaming structure.’

The ‘gun technology’ referred to is unique to the North of England and on trial in only a couple of places elsewhere in the UK. It is installed on the USA imported, MP5 Stinger weapons used in Battlezone Laser’s high level Laser Tag and functions hand in hand with ‘Call of Duty’ style live games.

Susan went on to say ‘Without giving too much away, we’ve worked closely with a London based technology development company to install the new features on our weapons and this means we have been able to add a new dimension to the game play. I would think your average ‘gamer’ will have a rough idea of what to expect if I say we have called the new games ‘Infected’!.

The company trialled the ‘Infected’ games over the Halloween period and say they were a sell-out with players immediately asking when the next sessions will be available.

Susan responded to this saying “We will definitely be hosting more Zombie themed events in the near future but, the technology can be switched on and off according to the players preference so all they need to do is tell us whether they dare play ‘Infected’ or if they prefer the traditional game. That means we can continue with our original ethos which is to ensure Battlezone Laser is a level playing field no matter what age you are or ability you have”
