DSN join forces with Aviva supporting local project

Deafness Support Network (DSN) needs the support of the local community to help its Deafness & Dementia Café grow.

Created to offer backing to local projects, the Aviva Community Fund allows you to get behind community schemes you care about by voting for your favourite.

Over the past 12 months, DSN’s Deafness & Dementia Café has been running across Cheshire and surrounding areas, offering a much-needed social club for the D/deaf community.

Currently funded by the Postcode Lottery, the Deafness & Dementia Café has grown steadily throughout the year and is now a well established monthly session.

“This funding is due to end very soon and we need new funds to keep this much needed resource going,” said Rhys Edwards, DSN Fundraising Manager.

The Deafness & Dementia Café breaks down barriers for individuals and reduces isolation through promoting and encouraging social inclusion, with a regular attendee commenting, “I have been coming to these events each month and each event gets more interesting with activities to help me chat with others and not feel so isolated.”

“I’ve seen the difference this scheme can make to people and we really want to continue our positive work throughout 2017,” added Rhys.

“We’re asking for anyone who has been affected by either deafness or dementia, or both whether directly or indirectly, to get behind our cause. Please vote for us!”
