Healthy eatery Abokado tipped for £17m turnover as London estate swells
London-based healthy food chain Abokado is on course to turnover £17m this year after plotting its 30th site in the capital.
The family-run business, which has grown out of its first store in Covent Garden, currently operates 28 stores across London and is a prominent player in the city’s ‘grab and go’ sector.
Founded in 2004 by husband and wife team Mark and Lindsay Lilley, Abokado serves up breakfast and lunch options inspired by its founder’s travels around the world, and is most well-known for its Shwraps, a sushi-wrap hybrid.
Founder, Mark Lilley, commented: “We’re proud to have opened 28 Abokado sites around the city since launching in 2004, employing over 250 members of staff. With our current turnover of £14million, we are projecting £17million for next year.
“The opening of our 30th site by the start of next year will be a very important milestone for the business. We have worked hard to meet growing consumer demands for healthier and diverse dishes in a convenient on-the-go format, which has been integral to driving the brand’s growth and consumer loyalty.”
Most recent openings including new venues in Islington and Blackfriars, with a new site Tottenham Court Road planned before the end of the year, and a further seven launches planned for 2017.
According to the healthy food brand, the ultimate aim is to operate more than 100 stores in the capital providing the platform for national and international expansion.
