Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd Completes Contract on BP Kinneil Scheme
The North East’s leading product manufacturer and global supplier of fire, blast and radiant heat protection systems – Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd – has successfully completed a contract to deliver its world renowned hazard protection solutions for BP’s Kinneil Liquid Petroleum Gas (KLPG) Chilldown Project.
The contract – awarded to the Darlington based company by fabrication specialists Burntisland Fabrications (BiFab) – involved supplying fire and blast relief walls and specialist fire louvres for BP’s new refrigeration plant at its Kinneil RLPG Plant in Grangemouth.
The onshore terminal processes crude oil from the North Sea and is an integral part of the BP Forties Pipeline System.
Speaking about the new contract win, Anthony Jones, Business Development Director at Mech-Tool Engineering said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by BiFab.
“Our hazard protection solutions play an integral role in protecting personnel and assets. With demands for exceptional safety standards, Mech-Tool Engineering prides itself on designing and manufacturing fire and blast solutions that meet – and in many cases – exceed the industry’s highest standards and as such, this is one of the major factors as to why we are securing contracts on such high profile oil and gas projects.
“Safety in high hazard industries can never be underestimated, and with our wealth of experience, working in some of the most challenging environments, we continue to deliver exceptional solutions that have been protecting people from blast, fire and radiant heat hazards for over 45years.”
The company will provide highly specialized fire louvres which will allow blasts to transfer through the wall systems as well as deflect these up, over and away from hazards.
And the contract win adds to the company’s string of multi-million-pound deals awarded to the Mech-Tool Engineering business, adding to its already impressive portfolio. Most recently, the company announced it will be supplying fire and blast walls to be deployed on the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm and awarded by leading engineering and fabrication specialists Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG).
Established in 1969 Mech-Tool Engineering Limited has carved a reputation in the global offshore and onshore oil and gas, nuclear, energy and process sectors as a leading provider of pre-engineered fire, blast and radiant heat and solar protection solutions and complete turnkey modular build solutions. The company operates from its head office in Darlington and has specialised manufacturing facilities in Teesside and South Korea and offices globally including Aberdeen, Houston, India, UAE and Malaysia.
