New Appointments Signal Expansion for Portland
Design engineers Portland Consulting Engineers (Portland) has expanded its team with three new appointments.
The Gateshead-based practice has appointed Joe Ryans, Kieran Costello and Andrea Dorward, taking the firm’s number of staff to 16.
The appointments come as Portland continues an expansion that will see it potentially double the turnover by the end of the financial year.
Joe Ryans joins the firm, as a civil engineering technician with more than ten years’ experience working in the North-east. The 28-year-old will be sharing his extensive residential knowledge, which includes key projects such as The Rise in Scotswood and Tunstall Grange in Ryhope.
Joe will work alongside the firm’s engineers to help deliver new housing schemes, as well as varied commercial, retail and industrial projects.
Joe who joins the firm from Permission is delighted with the opportunity he faces at Portland. He said: “I have joined a welcoming, friendly and experienced team at Portland which offers great opportunities to enhance my experiences and develop the business”.
Kieran Costello has joined the firm as an apprentice civil engineering technician and is working towards his National Certificate in ‘Construction and the Built Environment’ at Newcastle College.
The 16-year-old will provide support to the team whilst also training to become a well-rounded engineer. Kerian said: “ I am delighted to have to the opportunity to develop my career with a company like Portland“.
Andrea Dorward joins the team in a new position of office manager with more than 18 years experience working in various administrative roles within the construction industry.
Andrea’s role will involve facilitating the efficient running of the office, managing a range of administrative and financial tasks, as well as supporting all members of the team.
Delighted to be part of the Portland team Andrea said; “This is a really exciting role for me. It’s a very open and friendly company with a lot of exciting projects; I’m delighted to be here I’m really looking forward to using my experience and knowledge to support the team and working on behalf of such a well-established and reputable company.”
With a steady influx of new enquiries Portland’s managing director Lee Barr said: “We are continuing to pick up many new and varied projects, so our new appointments will help bring these schemes to life and deliver them to our clients, as expected.
