Former Claridge's chef to open eatery at The Stafford London

A chef with experience working in some of London’s most prestigious restaurants is to helm a new upmarket eatery serving up British fare in St James’s.

Opening in early 2017, The Game Bird will be housed within The Stafford London hotel offering classic British dishes including Orkney sea scallops and Lincolnshire smoked eel.

Heading up the new restaurant will be Executive Chef, James Durrant, who has over 20 years experience at Michelin-starred restaurants including Claridge’s and Gordon Ramsay’s Royal Hospital Road, along with stints at Jason Atherton’s Maze and Maze Grill.

It marks his return to London after relocating to Hampshire in 2010 to open The Plough Inn in Longparish.

Ahead of the opening, Durrant commented: “I am excited to be returning the Capital with the opportunity to redevelop the culinary offering within one of London’s most iconic luxury hotels.

“The Game Bird will offer classic British dishes with contemporary touches that I believe will perfectly complement the history of the property.”

The reopening of The Stafford’s restaurant will also include an ‘extensive redesign’ showing off the venue’s original seventeenth century features.
