IT company revs up awareness with distinctive fleet
Its fleet of branded cars is among the most recognisable on the M27 and now it is officially one of the biggest in the country.
IT firm Taylor Made Computer Solutions has invested significantly in its fleet of Skoda Octavias over recent years as it continues to cement its reputation as one of the fastest growing IT firms in the Solent. And now, with 48 vehicles in its cohort, it now has one of largest private business fleets of Skodas in UK.
Founder and chairman Nigel Taylor first decided to brand the company’s fleet of vehicles with the Taylor Made branding in 2000 in a bid to make the business even more well-known. He said: “It was one of the best business decisions I ever made and to this day, everywhere I go, people tell me they recognise our cars. It’s an extension of our uniform and a brand that our employees are proud to represent.”
Over the years Fareham-based Taylor Made has experimented with a variety of vehicles, including Mini Coopers and Chrysler Cruisers, but switched to the Skoda Octavias in 2013.
Fleet manager Dave Wilson says: “They’re a great car for us because they have low CO2 emissions, they’re economical and, most importantly, they’re reliable. Our clients are our world and for one of our engineers to break down on the way to an important meeting would be a disaster.”
Taylor Made’s fleet of Skoda Octavias travels more than half a million miles every year as engineers, account management staff and other employees visit clients across the Solent. While the vehicles can most frequently be found on the M27 heading between Taylor Made’s clients in Southampton, Fareham and Portsmouth, they can also be seen as far afield as London, where private businesses and government organisations rely on the IT company’s expertise.
True to Taylor Made’s ethos to work closely with fellow local businesses, each of the Skoda Octavias are leased from Compass Contract Hire in Havant. The company that places the distinctive Taylor Made Computer Solutions branding on the vehicles, Impact Signs, is a fellow Solent firm and based in Portsmouth.
