Inquesta trio raise £4,000 for Movember
Three colleagues at forensic accounting and insolvency firm Inquesta raised £4,000 for the Movember men’s health campaign by growing moustaches during the month of November.
One of the trio, administrator David Vallance, has overcome prostate cancer after being diagnosed in 2010 following a routine men’s health check.
His colleagues who undertook the Movember Challenge with him as Team Vallance were director Steven Wiseglass and manager David Howard.
Donations from friends, relatives, business contacts and Inquesta enabled the trio to be ranked in the top 50 Movember fundraisers across the whole of the UK.
David, 62, said: “We’ve received tremendous support and if the money we have raised can help to save even one life, it will be worth every penny.
“I was diagnosed with prostate cancer six years ago, and underwent major surgery shortly afterwards.
“I had a further operation in 2012, and then in November last year had a scare which meant having a course of radiotherapy, but I am doing okay again.”
He added: “It’s vital that prostate and testicular cancer are diagnosed early, and therefore the research funded by the Movember Foundation is of the utmost importance.”
The Movember campaign raises funds and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.
Since its creation in 2003, the Movember Foundation has raised over £400m worldwide.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common male cancers and, in the UK, one man dies from the disease every hour.
David said: “I would really recommend any man aged over 60 has a health check.”
Inquesta has a policy of supporting a different charity each month. During December it is backing the Mission Christmas campaign by Key 103 and Cash for Kids, in which new, unwrapped toys are collected to give as presents to disadvantaged youngsters.
Inquesta’s offices at St John’s Terrace, New Road, Radcliffe, are a drop-off point for people wishing to donate.
