Strive commits to Stockport

With the face of Stockport changing positively and the recent announcement of the Stockport BID proceeding in April 2017, recruitment experts Reactive Recruit have announced their commitment to the town centre.

Managing Director Javed Ashraf, whose company specialises in supply chain management recruitment, is situated in the heart of Stockport in Beckwith House, an office development owned and managed by landlords Orbit Developments.

Stockport’s improving infrastructure and developments are the main cause for celebration, according to Javed, who is upbeat about the prospects for the town.

He continued: “When we made the choice to launch a new division of Strive called Reactive Recruit from Stockport two years ago eyebrows were definitely raised. However, we saw the potential in the town centre and have had no regrets at all. We’re at the heart of the improvements and are set to reap the rewards from the new retail and leisure developments from as early as next year.

“A quick glance out of our Wellington Road office provides a daily reminder of the progress this great town is making. We can actually see the construction taking place on the Redrock project, whilst further up the road the Stockport interchange development is barely recognisable from before. The gateway to the town from Stockport train station has been massively improved already and there are more improvement works to come.”

The Light Cinema and restaurants Pizza Express, Zizzi and Gourmet Burger Kitchen have signed up to the new Redrock leisure development making the scheme 60% pre-let and due to open in 2017.

He continued: “We are already seeing the knock-on benefits of the redevelopments. There is a wider choice of local suppliers, a range of new client companies to recruit for, a better choice of staff for ourselves and, at long last, some really nice places to eat and take our clients to.”

In 2016 alone, Stockport has seen the arrival of a host of new bars and restaurants including Remedy Bar, St Petersgate Tap and Where The Light Gets In run by Samuel Buckley.

Buckley has worked in Michelin-starred restaurant Juniper and L’Enclume with Simon Rogan. In addition, The Allotment opened its doors close to the Marketplace, a vegan restaurant taking the town by storm.

Strive has also taken full advantage of Stockport’s excellent transport links via road, rail and air, which has made it easy to visit clients across the region and for interviewees to get to the Wellington Road offices.

Javed commented: “Being situated in an area that is well connected by public transport routes and arterial road networks is incredibly important for a recruitment company and Stockport has it all. It also opens up our own recruitment options and allows us to attract a high calibre of candidate.”

The company has recently appointed a new Recruitment Support Executive to manage the increasing workload. The latest recruit, Alexandra Jones, was originally hired as a young apprentice and with the help of Damar Training and the team at Strive, Alexandra was taken on as a full-time employee with the company.

Javed commented: “We have a long tradition of support for apprenticeship schemes because I think it’s important to help develop talent in the local area.

“Ultimately, Alexandra has shown the right attitude and had a great work ethic from the start and deserves her opportunity.

“Having a company like Damar Training on our doorstep who can provide specialist advice and support when recruiting an apprentice is especially important and it’s another reason to choose Stockport as a place to base your business.”

Javed concluded: “When compared to the all-round offer and growth potential of Stockport, there are very few places that can compete in the North-West. We are eagerly anticipating being at the forefront of all the new developments.”
