First traders move into new Scarborough Market Hall following £2.7m revamp
Traders are now beginning to move into their brand new stalls as work continues on the £2.7m transformation of Scarborough Market Hall.
Horsley’s butchers and the Deli Delicious café and takeaway have now relocated into their stall in the market.
Ian Hutchinson, from Horsley’s, said: “It looks really, really, nice. Well presented, more room to work in and better displays for people to see what is for sale.”
Councillor Bill Chatt, Scarborough Borough Council’s portfolio holder for public health and housing, added: “We are absolutely delighted that we now have two of our traders in their new stalls in the market.
“The new units look fantastic and are of the high quality finish that we are aspiring to for the whole of the refitted market.
“People who see Horsley’s and Deli Delicious can at last get an idea of how the whole market will look once this exciting programme of work is complete.
“It also acts as a great incentive to anyone out there who might be interested in taking a stall as they can see they type of top quality unit they would be operating in.”
The market has launched a prospectus for anyone who is interested in being a part of the building’s future. It offers a range of different shop and stall units, in the main market hall or on the mezzanine upper floor and in the ‘Vaults’. The units range from temporary, daily stalls to permanent shop units.
