London design studio Holmes Wood snapped up by global architecture firm

Global design and architecture firm, Benoy Group, has announced the acquisition of a London design studio which has worked with the likes of The Tate, Oxford University and Virgin Atlantic.

The deal, which is for an undisclosed amount, sees Battersea-based Holmes Wood, which specialises in wayfinding and sign design, become part of the global Benoy Group in a move which will open up more international markets for the London design studio.

As part of the agreement, Holmes Wood will retain its branding and will continue to operate independently aligned with Benoy’s ‘multi-boutique’ vision.

Owner of Holmes Wood, Lucy Holmes, said: “Over the last 16 years we have created a studio that delivers world class solutions in a new area of design: branding the built environment through graphic, wayfinding and sign design.

“Creating solutions that marry with architecture and interior design is absolutely key to our success and we see joining Benoy Group as the perfect fit.”

With a history dating back 70 years, the Benoy Group has grown into a multinational design and architecture empire spanning 80 countries across the globe.

Tom Cartledge, Chief Executive Officer at the Benoy Group said that the acquisition would support Holmes Wood’s international expansion, and represented a diversification of Benoy’s business expertise.

He said: “The mix of Benoy’s architecture, masterplanning and interiors skills alongside Holmes Wood’s pioneering wayfinding and graphic design makes for an extraordinarily powerful combination, delivering complete commercial solutions for our clients.

“I am confident that this acquisition will mark the beginning of a new phase of growth for Benoy Group and we look forward to expanding our capabilities into new sectors going forward.”
