lakeside has Christmas Wrapped up for Children's Charity
SHOPPERS at Lakeside Village will be able to get their gifts wrapped this Christmas while helping to raise funds for a local charity.
Business leaders from across Doncaster have pledged their support to help the team with the special wrapping sessions in the run up to December 25 to raise vital funds for Doncaster School for the Deaf.
A special Christmas present wrapping session, which will launch the start of the centre’s late night Christmas Shopping, will take place on December 14 between 5pm and 8pm within the indoor area to enable shoppers to buy and get their present wrapped.
John Magee, centre manager at Lakeside Village said: “We are thrilled that the business community is supporting our Christmas fundraising drive for this important local charity.
“Last year the children from Doncaster School for the Deaf came and signed Christmas Carols for our shoppers and I’ve been told that they were amazing.
“This year it is our turn to give something back and we are delighted to be able to offer this special Christmas wrapping service which means that people can buy their presents and then get them wrapped, for a donation to the charity, and they can take them home without family members being able to peek at what has been bought!
“The children from the school will be coming back to perform again and we might even get some of them helping out with the wrapping.”
Alan Robinson, executive principal at Doncaster Deaf Trust, who manage Doncaster School for the Deaf, said: “It is great to see the business community working with Lakeside Village to support the pupils at Doncaster School for the Deaf.
“I’m looking forward to seeing some of these business leaders with the sellotape, ribbons and bows wrapping up Christmas gifts! It really is lovely that people are showing their support in this way.”
Lakeside Village’s Christmas activities include a free to visit Santa’s Grotto and lots of magical festive fun.
Dan Fell, chief executive of Doncaster Chamber of Commerce said: “Doncaster is a great place for partnership working and this is a classic example of people working together for the good of others.
“We hope that this Christmas initiative makes a real difference to the pupils at Doncaster Deaf Trust’s School for the Deaf. As a registered charity all monies raised go directly into making a difference at this amazing facility.”
