WHN ties up Christmas cracker
A Bury-based law firm has pledged its support to a local charity to ensure some of the area’s most vulnerable children have a sparkling Christmas.
Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors, which is located on Manchester Road, has donated a host of festive gifts to the fostering services team at Bury Council, while the firm’s Blackburn office has also gifted Christmas presents to Community CVS.
The presents, which include pyjamas, DVDs, toys, toiletries and sweet treats, have been handed out by Father Christmas to almost 200 children and foster carers at Bury Council’s annual fostering services Christmas party. It is the tenth year that WHN has thrown its weight behind the festive campaign.
Gifts were also distributed to children at Blackburn-based charity Community CVS’s VOICE family club Christmas party.
Mark Taylor, solicitor at WHN Solicitors, said: “The sad reality is that not all children are lucky enough to receive presents at Christmas, so it’s really important for the whole community to come together to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
“WHN has taken part in a festive gift-giving campaign for ten years now and we’re delighted to be able to continue to extend a hand to make a real difference and put a smile on the faces of children and their families throughout Bury and Blackburn.”
Emma Newey, who works in Bury Council’s fostering team, added: “Our Christmas party was held for almost 200 children and foster carers. The children had a fantastic party and were overwhelmed with their present from Father Christmas.
“A massive thank you to WHN - the contribution made a real difference to the children living in foster care in Bury.”
