One Vision Housing help transform local community garden
Staff from One Vision Housing (OVH), part of the Sovini Group, have joined up with the Brunswick Youth and Community Centre to refurbish their community garden.
The day was arranged as part of the housing association’s work with Sefton4Good – an initiative from Sefton CVS supporting over 100 charities across the borough.
Other organisations taking part included charity People First, Sovini Property Services and managed services company Assist.
Aintree waste management business Carroll Waste also kindly donated a skip to the project free of charge.
Volunteers spent the day tilling the soil, planting lavender and decorative shrubs and tidying the garden in time for the New Year.
Food grown in the Brunswick garden will be used for Cook & Learn classes, children’s meals and given to local community groups around the Sefton area.
The Brunswick Centre – known as “The Brunny” – in Bootle encourages greater community cohesion and supports the development of children and young people in Bootle and South Sefton.
Keith Lloyd, Brunswick Centre Manager, said: “The fact that OVH take time out to support our initiatives is invaluable in terms of supporting the community of Marsh Lane.
“Our partnership work is very beneficial to the people who use our Centre and the wider community and we look forward to working on future projects with OVH.“
Jed Pearson, Managing Director of OVH, said: “Our main aim as a business is to improve the communities we serve, and working with the Brunswick Centre allows us to help local charities.
“The Brunswick Centre do a fantastic job engaging with the local community and supporting those in need, so when we heard they needed a helping hand we were more than happy to take part.“
