Historic North Yorkshire Moors Inn sold out of administration for £695k

The White Horse Farm Inn in Pickering, North Yorkshire, has been sold out of administration.

The sale was completed by joint administrators from Begbies Traynor, assisted by their property agents, Barry Crux & Company in York.

Situated in Rosedale Abbey in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors, the 16th century country house features 11 en suite bedrooms, two restaurants with 46 covers, plus lounge bars.

The inn also includes separate three bedroomed manager’s accommodation and a two/three bedroom holiday cottage as well as additional staff accommodation.

In May 2016, Rob Sadler and Dave Broadbent of Begbies Traynor in York were appointed as joint administrators of the inn.

They have now completed a deal for the purchase of the property and business to Phil Haxby, Nigel Haxby and Peter Scholey whose other business interests include Doncaster-based Wilfreda Luxury Coaches Limited.

Harrowells Solicitors in York acted for the joint administrators.

Joint administrator Rob Sadler commented: “We are pleased to see such a positive outcome – not only has the sale secured the jobs of the remaining nine staff, it has also provided the best possible return for creditors.

“It is good to see this historic inn which enjoys an idyllic location, continuing to serve locals and visitors to the area and we are confident that the purchasers will be able to re-establish it as a thriving business.”
