Rochdale to get 99 new affordable homes after £3.4m funding

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) is set to deliver a further 99 affordable homes to the town after a seven-figure grant award.

The £3.4m funding boost, which has come from the Homes and Communities Agency’s Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme, will help RBH deliver schemes across the borough, taking the total number of affordable homes in its portfolio to 278.

Schemes set to benefit from the grant include 60 ‘rent to buy’ homes in Smallbridge and Lower Falinge, along with 39 shared ownership homes in Middleton and Pennines.

Since RBH became a mutual housing society in 2013, it has completed 133 new homes for rent across the borough, with a further 46 ready to start or under construction.

Clare Tostevin, RBH Director of Communities, said: “This additional funding is great news and will not only help deliver new homes but also support local jobs and apprenticeships.

“The new homes we have built over the past five years are greatly valued by local communities, and this new grant will support our plans to provide further new high-quality homes across Rochdale borough and offer new affordable options for those who would like to own their home.”
