Diners at Tom's Kitchen can now leave real-time reviews and pay their bill through an app
Visitors to upmarket London eatery, Tom’s Kitchen, can pay for their meals, earn rewards and leave real-time feedback after the restaurant partnered with hospitality app CAKE.
The mobile payment app, which already has agreements in place with Porky’s and Rum Kitchen amongst others, allows users to book tables, split their bill and pay, and earn credit back instantly through the CAKE dashboard.
It also means that visitors to Tom’s Kitchen venues in Chelsea, Canary Wharf, Somerset House and St Katharine’s Docks can also leave real-time feedback which the restaurant’s staff have live access to, allowing them to action concerns then and there
Michelin starred chef, Tom Aikens, who founded the brand, said the system poses significant benefits over review sites such as Trip Advisor, where users leave feedback long after they have left the restaurant.
He said: “Online review sites are always productive however sometimes it’s too late to rectify an issue that could have been sorted on the spot.”
The move marks an increasing trend towards cashless payments through smartphone apps, particularly in restaurants and cafes, through solutions such as FlyPay and the Mastercard-backed Qkr.
Europe’s first cashless food-to-go outlet launched in the capital last year when Tossed opened a new City of London outlet on Coleman Street kitted out with 15 self-service kiosks instead of tills.
Aikens believes that apps such as CAKE help to create a quicker and more modern dining experience that suits the busy lifestyles of his clientele.
He added: “It’s becoming increasingly apparent that people are leading busy lifestyles with little time left for leisure. In some of our sites, in particular Canary Wharf, weekdays lunch for our corporate guests needs to be speedy, CAKE helps us to speed up the process even further.”
