2016 saw Doncaster's Lakeside Village reports strongest results in almost a decade
Doncaster’s Lakeside Village shopping centre ended 2016 by reporting its best results on record since 2009.
Located on White Rose Way, the retail outlet centre saw total sales rise by more than 5% during 2016, with more than 1.7million transactions carried out.
In December alone, Lakeside Village saw both The Body Shop Outlet and women’s fashion retailer Bonmarche open new stores, as well as a new Costa Coffee Drive Through.
Among the other new arrivals last year were Beauty Outlet and workwear company Dickies, giving the site its second year running at 100% store occupancy.
John Magee, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “We’re thrilled to be starting 2017 on a high after such a successful year.
“We’re seeing more and more well-known high street names and big brands joining the list of retailers and products on offer here at Lakeside Village and, as our figures show, our loyal shoppers are loving it.”
More new store openings are planned at the site during 2017, with Ben Sherman set to join Lakeside Village’s other 45 stores in February.
2016 also saw the centre enhance its customer facilities, as both the toilets and baby-changing facilities underwent a major refurbishment.
A multi-faith prayer room was added, and the centre was named as one of the only shopping centres in the region to achieve ‘Friendly WiFi’ status, in recognition of its commitment to helping young people stay safe online.
John added: “Lakeside Village prides itself on being more than an outlet shopping centre. The brands, the products, the people and the facilities we have here really do break the mould of outlet sites and we’re proud to be one of South Yorkshire people’s favourite places to shop.”
Lakeside Village is operated by asset managers Realm, specialists across the outlet retail and leisure property sectors, on behalf of the fund managers DTZ Investors.
