Target Software A Hit At Awards Night

Yorkshire software company Target, joined celebrations in Dublin alongside their client, The National University of Ireland, Galway when they came out on top and collected the 2016 Innovation Award.

Seventeen prestigious trophies were presented at The National Procurement & Supply Chain Awards to those that demonstrate best practice and innovation in the procurement and supply chain profession in Ireland.

Phil Atkinson, Managing Director and James Cole, Sales Executive of Target Information Systems (Target) were proud to join NUI, Galway’s Head of Procurement & Contracts, Ann Melia for the evening. The university was shortlisted in two categories, Innovation and Best Cross Functional Collaboration for the implementation of a new Procurement Contracts Database system, to improve data capture in their Procurement and Contracts Office.

Target worked with the university to provide their Accord – Contract Management System including additional bespoke developments to also deliver a fully OJEU compliant Tender Tracker.

The Barnsley based software company won the NUI Galway contract through a public procurement tender process; competing against the best in class to build the contract management system and OJEU Tender Tracker which now provides their Procurement and Contracts Office with real time data and reporting, helping the university gain control, compliance and savings.

Director of Target, Phil Atkinson said: “We’re delighted and proud to help our client, NUI, Galway pick up the Innovation Award from using our Accord database! It has been a pleasure to work with them and develop our software even further to meet their needs.”

Ann Melia, of NUI Galway said: “We needed a new way of automating the activities being created in our Office. We worked with Target because we could immediately see the benefits of Accord and the opportunities it presented for improvement; their contract management system is a fantastic piece of software and I am delighted by the win for the project.”

Set up in 2010 by co-directors Phil Atkinson and Daryl Greensill, Target currently occupies the biggest single unit at Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre (BBIC) at Wilthorpe.

Target works with clients such as Coca-Cola European Partners plant in Wakefield, a number of NHS Trusts, Kier Group, The British Library, 2K Games and Wavin UK.

Kevin Steel, Business Development Manager at BBIC, said: “Target has become a mini success story within the BBIC having been here when they first set-up six years ago. They’ve expanded and grown over the years and I’m confident that they’ll continue to do so.

“They are establishing themselves as the go-to company when there’s too much data to collect and correlate. They know systems inside out and they continue to go from strength to strength.”
