Leeds Mencap’s Apprentice Challenge is back
The Leeds Mencap Apprentice challenge is back for a fourth year, seeking out creative and entrepreneurial teams to battle it out for the top spot. Just how much money could you make from just a £50 loan, with seven weeks to do it? Taking part in the challenge raises much-needed funds to support people with learning disabilities, whilst also providing a fantastic opportunity to improve team-working skills and fulfil corporate social responsibility aims. Leeds Mencap is hoping to build on the success of previous years with a competition that is bigger and better!
The line-up is looking good so far with several teams already signed up and raring to go. Winston’s Solicitors have re-entered for the fourth time and this year to retain their crown. And joining them are four new teams, HSBC Service Recovery team, Zurich Insurance Company Ltd, a team from Leeds Mencap, and Re:Work an office furniture company. With more teams to come, the competition is going to be tough in 2017.
Ben Wainman from Zurich Insurance Company Ltd said this;
“We have entered a team into the apprentice challenge to raise money for such a worthy cause whilst having some fun along the way. We’re really looking forward to getting stuck in and raising the profile of Leeds Mencap and the brilliant work they do!”
Mark Goldstone, Head of Business Representation & Policy, West & North Yorks Chamber of Commerce and Judge on Leeds Mencap Apprentice has said this of the Apprentice Challenge;
“I am incredibly proud to be on the panel of judges this year for Leeds Mencap’s Apprentice Challenge. This challenge is an enjoyable and fresh way for businesses in Leeds to make a social impact, meet their internal engagement objectives as well as doing something great for a worthwhile cause. I would urge chamber businesses to get a team together and get involved. Delighted also that this is in partnership with one of the Chamber’s patrons, AQL.”
Leeds Mencap is extending an open invite to businesses both small and large to take part in the competition to be named Leeds Mencap Apprentice Champions 2017! Entires must be before Friday 10th February. Email Jenny or Cath on catherine.storey@leedsmencap.org.uk or jenny.hill@leedsmencap.org.uk or call 0113 2351331.
