£600,000 upgrade on Hamilton Gardens estate complete
More than 75 homes in Salford have been given a makeover thanks to a £600,000 investment from Salix Homes.
Residents of the Hamilton Gardens estate, in Kersal, have given the improvement works a thumbs-up.
The housing provider has externally enhanced 78 homes and internally improved 70 properties, as part of its major investment programme.
Homes have benefitted from a range of improvements, many including new kitchens, bathrooms and electrics and heating systems, while the exteriors received extensive painting, new front doors, timber fascia and soffit repairs.
On behalf of Salix Homes, Greater Manchester regeneration specialists Emanuel Whittaker carried out the works on St Martin’s Drive, St Kilda’s Drive, St Brelade’s Drive and St Asaph’s Drive.
The improvements are part of Salix Homes’ £75million investment into homes and communities across Salford, ensuring every property it owns meets the Government’s Decent Homes standard by 2020.
Brenda Holland, who has lived in her home on St Asaph’s Drive for 29 years, said: “The work that has been carried out has been smashing. We’ve had a new kitchen, windows, doors, drain pipes and painting done.
“The workers were brilliant, extremely friendly and caused minimal disruption. I’m delighted with the results.”
Belinda Benson, who has lived on the estate for 14 years, added: “My kitchen was spruced up and I had new windows and patio doors put in. I was delighted with how quick the quality work was carried out.
Mark Foster, service director of investment said: “We own more than 8,300 homes across Salford, and have pledged to our tenants that all properties will meet Decent Homes standard by 2020.
“We’ve made considerable and substantial improvements to more than 2,000 homes since the ownership of homes transferred to us in 2015, like Hamilton Gardens. Creating healthy communities where people aspire to live and work in is what we’re committed to doing, and receiving positive feedback, as we have on the improvement works we’ve carried out, gives us a great sense of pride.
“Very soon we will be able to reveal fantastic news that will see thousands more homes improved across Salford.”
