Jet2 announces 2017 New York trips from Newcastle Airport
Travellers from the region will once again be able to journey to New York from Newcastle Airport, as British low-cost airline Jet2 has announced trips to the Big Apple for Winter later this year.
Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks are launching six trips from the airport, with four night breaks available - including trips for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
The announcement follows a successful Winter 2016 program for Jet2, which featured sell out trips from Newcastle.
The news will also be welcomed by many in the region who were disappointed when, in August last year, United Airlines pulled the plug on its New York/Newcastle service reducing opportunities to fly to the Big Apple from the North of England.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks said: “Our New York trips have enjoyed phenomenal demand from Newcastle Airport this winter, with sell out trips and load factors exceeding all expectations.
“It’s clear how much our customers in the North East love our New York breaks and with Thanksgiving, Half Term and Christmas shopping covered, this programme offers something very special for everyone!”
Nick Jones, Interim Chief Executive at Newcastle International Airport, added: “We are delighted to see the return of these popular flights with Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks for Winter17.
“New York is a favoured destination of the North East travelling public and with six dates to choose from, starting October half term through to mid-December, there’s now even more choice from Newcastle Airport to this fantastic city.”
