Balans Soho Society celebrates its 30th year with sales growth and new openings

London restaurant brand Balans Soho Society is celebrating its 30th year in business with new venues following a year of bumper sales and growth.

The group, which currently operates six restaurants and bars in areas including Seven Dials, Soho and Kensington, has said like-for-like sales increased by 18.3% up to 31 December last year.

It also said that EBITDA jumped over 43% on the back of its strong sales growth, before refurbishment and opening costs relating to its new Monmouth Street venue, which opened last year, are accounted for.

Beginning as a small sandwich shop in Soho in 1987, the hospitality brand has become most well-known for its eye-catching branding and its ornate interiors designed by fashion and art designer Simon Costin.

Following a bumper year, David Taylor, owner-manager of Balans Soho Society commented: “During a period when trading conditions for restaurants everywhere can be said to be somewhat challenging, I’m really delighted that the reinvigorated Balans Soho Society is bucking the trend and proving to be increasingly popular.

“We’re anticipating maintaining momentum moving into 2017 as we continue to open new sites.”

To celebrate its 30th year in business, the brand has also announced that it has acquired the site of the former American-inspired eatery ‘Honky Tonk’ at 16A Clapham Common South Side.

Opening in March 2017, Balans said it would be its first outpost to open south of the river.
