York-based Langleys Solicitors has strengthened its medical law team with two new appointments.

Danielle Pope joins as an in-house nurse and Hannah Brown as a paralegal. The team is further boosted by the return of associate solicitor Helen Rundle from maternity leave.

Helen has more than six years’ experience in the field of clinical negligence and was recognised by the Law Society for her national work in raising awareness of patient safety issues in Wales.

Helen also sits on the board of trustees of Headway Lincolnshire as secretary.

Danielle qualified as a staff nurse in 2006 and has over 10 years of experience in a variety of specialisms including orthopaedics.

Hannah graduated from Northumbria University in 2015 having completed a law degree, Masters, and Legal Practice Course.

CreativeRace, the independent, integrated agency, has welcomed seven new additions to its Leeds office.

The new colleagues will be spread across various departments, which includes introducing a dedicated social media team for the first time in the agency’s 30-year history.

CreativeRace’s total staff count is now at 143 across both Leeds and London.

Emma Streets, former PR and social media director at TK, has been appointed as head of social media in a newly created role. Emma will be focusing on social media management, content creation and online influencer activity.

Emma has over 12 years’ experience in PR and social media, working across clients from a diverse range of sectors, from global shipping giant Maersk and Sir Richard Branson’s environmental organization Carbon War Room, to global hair styling brand Cloud Nine, and retail developer Hammerson.

Social media manager James Pilkington, who previously worked on ASDA’s social media community management, and journalism graduate Katie Sherdley, join her in the team.

Oliver Osborne previously held the role of lead creative at London digital agency, Hugo & Cat, where he worked on clients such as Sony, Nokia, Microsoft, Royal Mail and Ikea for 6 years. Prior to this, he spent 3 years creating architectural animations for Foster + Partners.

Eve Eastwood began her career at search and digital agency, Branded3, in 2013, before moving to brand marketing agency Clearsilver 18 months later. She then held the position of marketing manager at healthy fast food restaurant, Nourish, before joining the agency management team at ASDA’s home office. Eve will now manage CreativeRace’s own marketing within the new business team.

Mandip Kaur has worked for brands including Redcats, UK Mail, and most recently, ASDA, where she managed CRM campaigns for all business units. She brings a wealth of experience in email marketing, and will now manage the eCRM offering for CreativeRace clients.

Emma Denny spent a year as an intern at Hewlett Packard in Stuttgart, Germany, and worked as communications and engagement officer at Huddersfield University before joining CreativeRace.

Simon Hellewell, Ward Hadaway

Law firm Ward Hadaway has announced the appointment of property partner, Simon Hellewell.

Simon joins the Leeds office of the law firm with more than 20 years’ specialist expertise in a range of different real estate fields with particular strength in the house building sector.

He has advised a range of residential developers, including substantial regional house building companies, on matters including land acquisition, site assembly, joint venture agreements and overage on sites ranging from a handful of houses to major 300-home estates.

Outside of the house building sector, Simon has worked with developers, retailers, investors, lenders and insolvency practitioners on a broad spectrum of matters.

He has acted on acquisitions and disposals of investment properties ranging from high street shops to business parks and multi-million pound office premises in locations across the country.

Neil Creeney, S Harrison

S Harrison, the York-based development firm, has appointed Neil Creeney as development executive and Andrew Wharton as project delivery manager.

Neil joins from property and investment firm Opus Land North Ltd, and has over 20 years’ experience in property development and acquisition.

During his career so far he has acquired and managed the development of a range of mixed-use development projects across the country. He was also responsible for acquiring more than 30 restaurants for McDonalds in a previous role as a senior retail estate surveyor.

Andrew joins S Harrison from construction consultant Rex Procter & Partners. He is a chartered quantity surveyor and brings with him a wealth of procurement, contract and cost consultancy knowledge across most sectors, gained from over 23 years’ post qualification experience for London and Leeds based consultants.

Andrew has been client lead on many notable hotel, residential, retail and office developments, including West Offices, headquarters of the City of York Council.

Yorkshire law firm Andrew Jackson has announced the appointment of Azher Quyoom, who joins the firm as a partner.

Azher’s particular expertise in restructuring, turnaround and insolvency is a key addition to the firm, which announced the opening of its latest regional office in Scarborough last month.

Sweco, the engineering, environment and design consultancy, has appointed a new finance director.

Philip Bruce, who will be based in the company’s Leeds office, brings with him significant experience within financial management, strategy and sales.

He joins from York-based Nestle UK, where he held a number of senior finance positions, including leading financial strategy and the implementation of commercial best practice in process, controls and compliance within the UK and Ireland sales force.

Prior to his time in the consumer goods industry, he held positions at PwC, working across audit, risk assurance and transaction services.

Matthew Willett, Commercial Property Partners

Commercial Property Partners, the Sheffield-based property consultancy, has announced the expansion of its facilities management division following the appointment of Matthew Willett.

Matthew brings with him more than a decade of experience of property refurbishments, fit-outs and ongoing maintenance of commercial properties.

A former director at facilities management and construction firm Horsforth Contract Maintenance (HCM), Matthew also brings with him a team of engineers - allowing CPP to now offer a fit-out, refurbishment and ongoing maintenance service to the firm’s clients.

In his role as operations manager, Matthew will now oversee the team of property construction and maintenance specialists – offering services including warehouse and office refurbishments, full fit-outs, general repair work and building planned preventative maintenance to CPP clients, as well as a wider portfolio of property owners and tenants.

Amar Hussain, Orchard Energy

Elland-based Orchard Energy has announced the appointment of Amar Hussain as managing director.

The appointment follows on from Orchard Energy founder Gareth Henderson announcing his decision to leave to allow him to focus full time on his facilities management business Orchard FM.

Hussain joined Orchard Energy in 2006 and has since progressed from his initial role as business development manager to becoming an associate director.

He became commercial director in 2013, playing a key role during the recent rebrand process, and helping to establish Orchard Energy as the leading energy management specialist in the UK.

Hussain steps into the position vacated by Henderson from his current role as commercial director and will commence duties on 1st June 2017.

Henderson steps down following 13 years in the role, having founded the company in 2004.

Henderson said: “I am delighted that Amar has been appointed as managing director and am confident that he is the right man to take the business forward and develop new strategic plans to ensure its continued growth.

“Amar and I will work closely together in the weeks and months ahead to ensure that the business, as well as our customers, continue to benefit from the stability and strength developed over previous years.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have been a part of the business over the years, and who have worked closely with me to build Orchard into the success it has become.

“Having established Orchard Energy from the back bedroom of my home and watched it grow since then, I look forward to the company continuing to go from strength to strength.”

Matt Davies, Henderson’s Relish

Henderson’s Relish, the makers of the Sheffield sauce, has appointed Matt Davies as its new general manager.

Matt is moving from Taylors of Harrogate, where he was head of international sales. He worked previously for Mars UK.

Pamela Freeman, owner of Henderson’s Relish, said: “We are delighted to welcome Matt to Hendersons. The combination of his excellent track record in retail and his love for Sheffield, in particular Hendersons, made him an ideal candidate in a very strong field.

Matt replaces Patrick Byrne, who is retiring, along with his wife Liz, the office manager of Henderson’s.

Sales of Relish have increased by 30% since Patrick joined the operation three years ago.
