Leading North East solicitors take up charity baton
A LEADING firm of North East solicitors has stepped up to the starting line, after taking up the baton on behalf of a brain injury charity.
EMG Solicitors, based in Durham, is a strong supporter of Headway, which supports people across the UK dealing with life after a brain injury.
And now EMG has been officially recognised as one of the organisation’s baton holders, committing the firm to a year of fund raising on the charity’s behalf.
Emma Gaudern, Managing Director of EMG Solicitors, is renowned for her professional work for people with brain injuries as part of the practice’s Court of Protection services.
Although the firm has had a long association with Headway, it was officially unveiled as a charity partner in December at the prestigious Headway Annual Awards lunch held at The Dorchester in London.
The Headway Challenge Baton was handed over to Emma and her team and now they are preparing for an intensive year of fund raising on the charity’s behalf.
“EMG Solicitors have been huge supporters of Headway and we’re delighted to be taking over the baton and to help raise funds for this massively worthwhile cause,” said Emma.
“We’ve already raised a considerable amount of money over the past two years for the LAN – Look Ahead
“We organised our first WonderLAN ball in 2015 to raise funds for this and then held our second one last year - which was a huge success - and we’re already working on our 2017 event.
“We also hope to use our annual conference in April as an opportunity to raise more money for Headway and we’re looking at other events throughout the year, so it’s going to be a busy – and hopefully profitable – 12 months.
“Headway is a cause very close to the hearts of everyone at EMG and we’re very honoured to be able to give it our support.”
Alastair White, Network Support Manager for Headway, said he was delighted that EMG has chosen to take on a Headway Challenge Baton for 2017.
“Over the past few years, the firm has provided invaluable support by raising vital funds to support people in the North East of England, while also helping to raise awareness of brain injury and making more people aware that Headway is here to help,” he said.
“We hope Emma and her team enjoy what promises to be a fun year of fundraising.”
