All Bells and Whistles
Whether you’re building a new property, renovating an old one or converting a barn for residential purposes one thing that needs to be considered is what method is most appropriate for wastewater disposal. Late last year on a site in Sheffield our contracts manager Alan Law carried out an initial site inspection to advise the best course of action to deal with a new large barn conversion with the possibility of building an annexe. For the purposes of this site he recommended that a Klargester BB BioDisc was installed.
The Klargester BioDisc is often referred to as the ‘all bells and whistles’ sewage treatment plant and is one of the top of the range available today; the plant went through extensive European Standard testing and after an exceptionally impressive result of removing approximately 95% of pollution from the effluent meaning this system holds an EN-12566 certification which exempts the BioDisc from requiring a permit to discharge to watercourse.
The plans for this site was for the BB BioDisc to discharge to soakaway, this was to be installed by the customer at a later date after the installation of the vessel had been completed. Working alongside the building contractors our installation team Dan and Howard seated the Klargester Vessel inside the excavation that had been dug prior to us attended site, the tank was then installed in a C25 OPC concrete surround. The Klargester BB BioDisc can be provided for either a gravity outfall or with an integrated pump system (IPS), due to the location on this site a gravity system would be more than sufficient for the outlet to flow to the soakaway in the field below. The IPS option is better suited for sites where the level in which the raw effluent is being pumped to is above the level of the tank.
Among many other things when installing a sewage treatment system/septic tank/ pump station it is vital to consider the source of the effluent and the intended destination. With intricate calculations our contracts managers can easily identify what System is ideal for each individual site.
