J&B Recycling lands double award
A RECYCLING firm has double reason to celebrate after being named as the winner of two global awards.
J&B Recycling has been named as the winner of Most Outstanding in Recycling Solutions in the annual Corporate LiveWire Awards, retaining the honour won in the same competition last year.
The company, which operates from a headquarters in Hartlepool and runs a neighbouring site in the town as well as a third facility in Middlesbrough, was also crowned as the winner of the Recycling category of the 2016 Oil & Gas awards.
Those awards are handed out in recognition of the businesses across the UK which have continued to cope well with the fluctuating markets in the oil and gas sector over the last 12 months.
J&B Recycling’s strategy to divert waste from landfill by increasing the levels and types of waste streams that can be recycled in a sustainable manner has led to a succession of honours at previous awards ceremonies and the latest accolades add to an impressive roll of honour.
A spokesman for Corporate LiveWire said: “It is imperative for companies to provide innovative solutions in waste collection, recovery and recycling.
“Our judges were satisfied that J&B Recycling tick all of these boxes and were particularly impressed by the seamless manner in which they operate.
“We are delighted to name them as the winner for the Most Outstanding in Recycling Solutions in our Innovation & Excellence Awards for 2017.”
Lauren Downs, co-ordinator for the Oil & Gas Awards, said: “These awards highlight the ingenuity, dedication and sheer hard work undertaken by the professionals and companies working within this vital sector.
“Every one of our winners truly deserves their recognition, and it is a privilege to be able to turn the spotlight on them and the hard work they do, and I wish them the very best of fortunes in the future.”
The double awards boost comes just a week after J&B Recycling posted impressive end of year results which saw turnover increase from £9.56m in the previous 12 months to £13.5m.
The business has also invested heavily in new machinery, and recently completed a recruitment drive which saw 30 new positions created.
Vikki Jackson-Smith, Managing Director of J&B Recycling, said: “It is always nice to win any awards, but to be named as the winner of two where there such a high level of competition is a tremendous achievement for us.
“We have continued to grow year-on-year, both in terms of our turnover and the workforce, and throughout that time we have continued to invest in systems to ensure we stay ahead of the field and provide the best service we can to our customers.
“To be named as a top performer in the UK is an honour for any business in any sector, and it is nice for everyone connected with J&B Recycling that our hard work is recognised in this way.”
J&B Recycling recycles up to 130,000 tonnes of waste each year from household, commercial, industrial and construction sources as well community buildings, pubs and restaurants.
J&B Recycling now employs more than 200 staff across both sites in Hartlepool and Middlesbrough.
