Artist Paints Famous Manchester Skyline.... With Coffee
To celebrate the 100,000th cup of coffee enjoyed on board TransPennine Express (TPE) trains, a renowned artist has created and painted the famous Manchester skyline using coffee.
The intercity train company commissioned food artist, Nathan Wyburn, to create a coffee masterpiece of the Manchester skyline, featuring the Hilton Hotel and Manchester Cathedral.
The unveiling of the art coincides with the news that an at seat catering service, is now on offer on all TPE trains between Liverpool and Manchester (available every day until 19:00). It forms part of the company’s plan to improve catering and the menu utilises Northern produce, including quality products such as tiffin from Yorkshire and pastries from Lancashire.
First class customers will now receive delicious pastries alongside fresh coffee, seven days a week.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director for TransPennine Express said: “Painting the Manchester skyline entirely out of coffee is such a unique way to celebrate reaching this milestone and we hope that our customers enjoyed the art created.
“The sale of our 100,000th coffee cup ties in with the introduction of the new and improved catering service on-board our Liverpool to Manchester trains. The North and Scotland is home to some of the best food in the world and we are keen to work with local businesses in order to showcase this.”
