Cardiff law firm celebrates second anniversary

The Cardiff office of law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has celebrated its second anniversary after a busy two years establishing itself in the city.

Partners at the firm say they are delighted with the success of the office, which opened in Cardiff Bay’s Scott Harbour in 2015, and has since seen significant growth both in terms of staff recruitment and client wins.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the Cardiff market, the office is headed up by Partner Vicky Kells, supported by a team of industry leading specialists in housing, planning, commercial property, and banking and finance.

The firm hosted a special party to celebrate the occasion at The Yard in the city centre, which was attended by employees, clients and special guests including Wales International and Bristol Rugby player Ryan Bevington who gave his thoughts ahead of the Six Nations clash between England and Wales on 11 February.

Vicky Kells, Commercial Property Partner and specialist in Social Housing at Clarke Willmott in Cardiff, said: “We are a relatively new law firm to the Welsh market having only opened the office in Cardiff in 2015 as a result of our strong track record in South Wales.

“The Welsh offering is currently boutique in its nature with the business focusing on its key strengths, namely commercial property, social housing finance, banking and finance, planning, construction, corporate and commercial, property litigation and financial litigation.

“We’ve experienced a recent surge and steady flow of multi-million pound investment and development finance instructions involving both our commercial property and banking and finance teams. In dealing with these transactions, both teams received outstanding feedback, with clients referring to them as being an extension of the in-house legal function and with transactions described as seamless and joined up throughout.”

Current clients for the office include several Welsh Housing Associations including Melin Homes, United Welsh Housing Association, Pobl Group, Rhondda Housing Association, Grwp Cynefin, Newydd and North Wales Housing Association, together English registered providers including L&Q, Home Group, Amicus Horizon and GreenSquare and funders including Lloyds, Principality Building Society, Triodos and Handelsbanken.

Vicky continued: “There’s a great deal of investment and development activity happening in Cardiff, and we are committed to making a positive contribution to this success through our work in the area.

“We are extremely pleased with our progress to date. The Cardiff office is developing and with many positives on the horizon we expect another strong performance in 2017 when we will build on the progress and strong relationships we have developed in South Wales.”

Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with seven offices across the country, including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
