Dancing on the Tiles

Staff at pioneering Russell Roof Tiles are raising money with moves – with the launch of a “strictly” style live ballroom dancing competition.

Tickets are already selling fast with only 30 left for Dancing on the Tiles which is being held on Friday 10th March at Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton on Trent.

The event is in aid of Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes (SSBB) is a volunteer-led charity providing an urgent delivery service, transporting lifesaving medical supplies to NHS Foundations across the region.

They will dance a freestyle choice of either Jive, Salsa, Samba, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Charleston, Quickstep and a Viennese Waltz in front of an audience of nearly 250 colleagues, friends and family.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles comments, “We wanted to have a fundraising event with a bit of a twist, and it’s a great opportunity for the staff to try something different. Everyone has been hard at work since Christmas practising for the competition so they are taking it all very seriously. No one has ever danced like this and all are putting their reputations on the line for the company all in a good cause.”

Celebrating its 50th birthday in 2015, Russells currently employs a team of 180 across its two factories in Burton and one in near Lockerbie in Scotland. The company manufactures a range of concrete roof tiles and fittings for the pitched roofing market, used on residential and commercial projects across the UK.

In 2016 generous staff at Russells raised an impressive £12,000 for Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes to buy a much-needed new motorbike plus £12,000 for Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.

The 11 couples will all be fighting it out to win the coveted glitterball trophy on the night.
